D-backs giving Tomas time to rest lower back

"A little bit of aggravation in the low back area, so instead of forcing it, we're just going to let him play a little catch-up," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said. "We made a decision that it may be wise to just give him a few days down. We're in no hurry at this point in time in Spring Training."

Tomas is 0-for-17 this spring with four strikeouts.

"As far as I'm concerned, we've ramped up these guys' at-bats, so maybe it's time to slow play it a little bit when needed, and this was one of those situations that I thought the best thing to do would be to pull back a little bit," Lovullo said.
