That was more than enough support for a pitching staff led by starter Patrick Corbin, who helped his bid for a rotation spot, by allowing just one hit over five scoreless innings. Corbin did not walk a batter and struck out five, retiring the last 15 batters he faced.
"Patrick set the tone on the mound, five really crisp innings," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said. "His stuff was outstanding."

Rangers starter Chi Chi Gonzalez began the game striking out three of four batters he faced in the first inning.
