The All-Star break can’t come soon enough. The last time a starting pitcher went longer than 6 innings was July 3rd, when Zack Greinke threw 6 2/3rds IP against the Cardinals. Since then, the starters have flopped and the bullpen has felt the brunt of that. Yesterday was more of the same, with Shelby Miller only going 1 inning before leaving due to injury. That extended outing was felt today, and Robbie Ray did them no favors as well.
Things started off well for the offense, with baseball magnet Jon Jay accepting another free base from a HBP, his 11th since coming over in the trade.
