Corbin Carroll’s second swing of the day produced a massive shot to center at Chase Field, a ball that soared over the batters’ eye and over the overhang. If there were any questions about how much raw power the Diamondbacks’ top draft pick has, Carroll answered them during a batting practice session on Friday afternoon.
Carroll, a center fielder, has an athletic build and a powerful left-handed swing. But he also is listed at just 5-foot-10, something that didn’t stand in the way of the Diamondbacks selecting him with the 16th overall pick earlier this month.
In many ways, this comes as no surprise.
