DENVER – Diamondbacks catcher Welington Castillo says his head is finally clear. He isn’t worried about his family anymore, no longer feels guilty being away from them while the team is on the road, and when he arrives at the ballpark, he says he can set his mind to his job.
“I think I just had too much stuff in my head before with my wife’s pregnancy,” Castillo said. “After she delivered, all of that got out of my mind and I was focused on baseball.”
For Castillo, that’s the best explanation he can offer for how well he has swung the bat since returning to the team, a stretch in which he has hit .
