Chip Hale still believes in Josh Collmenter

If manager Chip Hale’s comments Tuesday are any indication, the spring-training troubles of reliever Josh Collmenter won’t cost him a spot on the Opening Day roster.

A question about Collmenter’s performance – he has a 9.69 ERA in six games and has allowed five homers in 13 innings – morphed into a discussion about the candidates for the final spot in the bullpen. Hale said four relievers – he didn’t name names but the four are Enrique Burgos, Evan Marshall, Silvino Bracho and Jake Barrett – are “knocking on the door, pushing him (Collmenter) to get in this door.
