Blake Walston, the #27 prospect in the Diamondbacks system according to MLB Pipeline, has been recalled from Reno and will likely make his debut in the coming days, if not tonight. In a corresponding move, Andrew Saalfrank has been optioned to Reno.
Walston was a first round selection by the Diamondbacks out of New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC, in 2019. He was the second pick the Diamondbacks had in the first round, due to their failure to sign Matt McLain the previous year. After an excellent 2021 season in Visalia and Hillsboro, he crack the top-100 lists of Baseball America and MLB Pipeline, but has trended downward in subsequent seasons.
