A pair of Diamondbacks executives are up for a high-ranking position with rival club, a scenario that could lead to a painful loss for General Manager Mike Hazen and his baseball operations department.
Both of the Diamondbacks’ assistant general managers, Jared Porter and Amiel Sawdaye, have interviewed for the vacant GM position with the Los Angeles Angels, according to a source. The Angels fired their former GM, Billy Eppler, late last month.
Porter and Sawdaye have been integral members of Hazen’s staff since they joined the organization in the fall of 2016. Both have a variety of roles and responsibilities across departments, but Porter primarily oversees professional scouting and helps with player personnel decisions while Sawdaye oversees amateur scouting and player development.
