When we last checked in, the 2025 season was finally under way, albeit only just. The D-backs had split a four-game series at Chase Field with the Cubs, in a high-powered series where the sides combined for a total of 48 runs. The offense had done it’s job, but the pitching hadn’t shown up - with the exception of Corbin Burnes, who REALLY hadn’t shown up. Naturally, fandom did what fandom does, over-reacting violently to small sample sizes, and some were proclaiming that failing to win the series against the Cubs would be the team’s death-knell come the end of the year.
