Arizona Diamondbacks gave high-ranking execs 'more security' with offseason extensions

The Diamondbacks gave their general manager, Mike Hazen, a contract extension earlier this month, but the club gave his assistants long-term security long before.

The Diamondbacks restructured the contracts of assistant GMs Jared Porter and Amiel Sawdaye last offseason, agreements that CEO Derrick Hall hopes will help keep the trio of executives together in Arizona for as long as possible.

"We tried to give them a little more security," Hall said. "We want them to feel welcome and be appropriately paid.

"We are going to try to do all we can to keep them happy, but we know realistically that the point will come when one or both will move on for a higher position.
