Arizona Diamondbacks acquire reliever Matt Andriese in trade with Tampa Bay Rays

The Arizona Diamondbacks have traded for RHP Matt Andriese from the Tampa Bay Rays.

The team gave up center Michael Perez and RHP Brian Shaffer to acquire Andriese.

To make room on the D-Backs’ 40-man roster, the club designated RHP Randall Delgado for assignment.

Andriese, 28, is 3-4 with a 4.07 ERA (27 ER in 59.2 IP), .240 opponent average and 59 strikeouts in 27 games (4 starts) for the Rays this season.

In his 23 relief appearances, he has pitched 2.0 or more innings 16 times, tied for the second highest total in baseball.
