Arizona Diamondbacks 5, San Diego Padres 6: Close, but no cigar

Spring record: 4-5. Change on 2016: -1.5

Patrick Corbin did get through the scheduled three innings, but with rather more hard contact than in his first outing. He was charged with a pair of Padres’ runs on three hits, and also walked two batters, but did strike out two as well. He was up at 49 pitches by the end of the third inning, 28 of those strikes. He seemed to be sitting around 92 mph in the first inning, perhaps a tick lower in the third, which is where San Diego scored both runs, largely courtesy of back-to-back triples to lead off the frame.
