Here’s another reason, one that’s been largely forgotten: The season-ending injury to center fielder A.J. Pollock.

Because Pollock and his fractured elbow have been out of sight and out of mind – other than a news conference to explain the extent of his injury and the rehabilitation process – it’s been easy to overlook just how important he was to the Diamondbacks.

Let’s start with the obvious: Pollock was Arizona’s second-best offensive player last year, hitting .315 with 20 homers, 76 RBIs and 39 steals.
