In their second-to-last tune-up ahead of the regular season, the Coyotes were tripped up 4-1 by the Kings on Thursday at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The Kings opened the scoring with a power-play goal from defenseman Drew Doughty at 15:53 of the first period. Winger Mike Cammalleri made it 2-0 with 3:57 to go in the second before Los Angeles added two more in the third – the first from center Jeff Carter 1:12 into the period and the second a power-play marker from Cammalleri.
Winger Clayton Keller scored the Coyotes’ lone goal on the power play at 10:54 of the third, his team-leading third goal and sixth point of the preseason.
