Should NHL goalies ditch quick-release skates? Antti Raanta latest to make 'slide of shame'

Two days later, Antti Raanta could laugh about it. The fluke incident that put the Coyotes in a two-goal deficit on Wednesday was a bit easier to relive once the team had turned the page on a 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens at Gila River Arena.

Just 24 seconds into the second period, Canadiens captain Shea Weber scored on an empty net to give Montreal a 2-0 lead, a pivotal moment in the game. The reason the net was empty was that the blade on Raanta’s right skate had fallen out, and the Coyotes goaltender could not skate back into his crease.
