Senators owner leaves hospital after liver transplant (The Associated Press)

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) -- Ottawa Senators team owner Eugene Melnyk has been discharged from a Toronto hospital after undergoing a liver transplant last month.

The team says in a statement Wednesday that the anonymous donor also been discharged.

Melnyk's post-transplant recovery will require weekly follow-up with his transplant team. He's been transferred to a facility that will provide daily rehabilitation services.

More than 500 people offered to be a donor for the billionaire owner following a public appeal by the team. Melnyk was suffering end-stage liver failure due to an undisclosed disease of the organ.
