The next time Barrett Hayton draws into a game for the Coyotes, it will be after riding the bench for another lengthy stretch of games.
After making the Opening Night roster, the 19-year-old Hayton has appeared in 14 of the Coyotes’ 32 games this season. And throughout what has been a learning experience for the rookie, Hayton has been scratched for at least five consecutive games on three separate occasions this season.
Needless to say that wasn’t the plan coming into the 2019-20 season.
Hayton, who hasn’t seen game action since Oct. 29 at Vegas, is currently mired in one of those stretches.
