If you only watched the first 15 minutes of every Coyotes game, you might think the team was in first place. However, the reality is much different.
Although the Coyotes lead the league in scoring first — they have done so in 10 of 14 games this season — their record entering Saturday was an NHL-worst 1-12-1. They are on pace to lose 70 games, which would be one shy of the 1992-93 San Jose Sharks, who set an NHL record with 71 losses.
The Coyotes have had no issues starting games. They almost never come out flat and almost always draw first blood.
