The NHL joined the NBA and several other sports leagues on Thursday by announcing the rest of the 2019-20 season would be suspended indefinitely.
A statement released by the NHL on Thursday said that the league's goal is to resume play "as soon as possible" so that they might be able to "complete the season and award the Stanley Cup."
The NBA suspended its season until further notice after Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday. The Jazz were set to play the Oklahoma City Thunder until the game was delayed and, ultimately, postponed.
