NHL extends shutdown; Coyotes' home game Monday vs. Los Angeles Kings postponed

Arizona Republic

The National Hockey League announced on Friday that it was extending its current shutdown at least through games scheduled for Dec. 27, which means the Coyotes' game against the Los Angeles Kings at Gila River Arena is postponed.

The NHL paused the season on Dec. 20, two days before the league's regular Christmas break, in a attempt to deal with COVID-19 outbreaks affecting several teams. The league said on Friday the season would not resume before Dec. 28.

"In order to allow the League an adequate opportunity to analyze League-wide testing results and to assess Clubs’ readiness to play, the target date for resumption of game play will be pushed back an additional day," the NHL said in a statement.
