The Arizona Coyotes are days away from the start of the 2017-18 season, and the franchise has new problem-solvers staring down a familiar issue: How to make hockey matter in this town?
Key in that effort are owner Andy Barroway and team president and CEO Steve Patterson.
Barroway, a hedge-fund manager, has gone from majority owner at the head of a nine-person group to sole control. He’s talks like a hockey fan who wants to win, not like a banker looking for an investment.
Patterson, meanwhile, former athletic director at Arizona State, has connections and experience that he'll put to use in the search for a new arena.
