When the Vegas Golden Knights were inducted as the NHL’s 31st team prior to last season, it was immediately apparent that the league would try to spark a rivalry between their newest club and its closest neighbor — the Arizona Coyotes.
But as much as the NHL and the two clubs have hyped it up as such, there hasn’t been much of a rivalry in the first season-plus of games. And with a 5-1 loss to the Golden Knights on Sunday at Gila River Arena, it’s clear the Coyotes have a lot of work to do in order to get up to par.
