For most of my time as a hockey fan, people have been predicting ads on jerseys. Even before stickers on helmets, some people saw the implementation of Rule 9.5 the "Jersey Tuck" Rule as a precursor to the NHL allowing ads on the bottom of jerseys.
But after years of prophesizing, it looks like it will be finally happening.
The ads will be relatively small, only 3 inches by 3.5 inches. They will be slightly larger than the NBA, where ads on jerseys are no larger than a 2.5-inch square.
Like any other industry, the NHL is always on the lookout for new and exciting ways to generate revenue, aesthetics be damned.
