Glendale selected facilities management company AEG Facilities to operate Gila River Arena, likely hastening the city's split with the Arizona Coyotes hockey team.
The city issued a formal notice of intent to reach a contract with AEG on Wednesday. The next steps for city administrators:
- Work out a contract with AEG executives to present to the City Council for approval.
- Determine if there's a way to retain the Coyotes in the building that was built for the NHL team.
Coyotes President and CEO Anthony LeBlanc suggested last week that the team's tenure in Glendale is nearing an end.
