A salary arbitration hearing for the Coyotes and defenseman Michael Stone has been scheduled for Aug. 4 in Toronto, the NHL Players' Association announced Monday.
Stone filed for salary arbitration last Tuesday.
The two sides can continue to negotiate up until a hearing, and many cases get resolved before then. Last summer, there were 25 arbitration filings. Only eight progressed to a hearing, and five were settled before a ruling.
In the event of a hearing, each side presents its argument, which may include pertinent statistics and comparable player information. A ruling is decided within 48 hours of the hearing.
