Coyotes' Smith week-to-week with injury

NEW YORK – The Coyotes have learned goaltender Mike Smith’s lower-body injury isn’t severe, but Smith will remain in Arizona for the rest of their six-game road trip and is considered week-to-week.

“He’s in good spirits back home, and we’ll see where he’s at next week,” coach Dave Tippett said.

Smith appears to be dealing with a left knee injury after he got his left leg tangled underneath his body as he turned to reach for a puck in the crease during Tuesday’s loss to the Senators in Ottawa. The 34-year accompanied the team to Montreal where he was spotted wearing a brace on his left knee under his jeans, but he eventually returned to the Valley to consult with team doctors.
