In a do-or-die situation, the Coyotes find themselves closer to the former after a crucial, 1-0 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday at Gila River Arena.
A healthy scratch in the club’s last game on Sunday at the New York Islanders, Coyotes center Nick Cousins returned to the lineup and provided the lone goal, a power-play tally at 5:30 of the third period, to give the Coyotes a regulation win they desperately needed in order to remain relevant in the Western Conference wild-card race.
"I didn't like sitting out in Long Island,” said Cousins, who hadn’t scored in 19 games.
