Coyotes head coach Rick Tocchet is expected to rejoin the team on Thursday after taking a leave of absence due to a family illness, interim coach John MacLean said on Wednesday.
MacLean, who assumed head coaching duties in Tuesday’s 4-3 shootout win over the Los Angeles Kings at Gila River Arena, said the team is fully expecting Tocchet to resume his normal role ahead of Thursday’s home game against the Nashville Predators.
One of his first orders of business will be to sort out the Coyotes’ goaltending situation. Normal starter Antti Raanta (lower body) and backup Darcy Kuemper (illness) both practiced on Wednesday, but neither is 100 percent.
