Coyotes embark on renewed journey in NHL's Central Division, 22 years later

The last time the Arizona Coyotes were in the NHL's Central Division, they were the Phoenix Coyotes and had just moved to the Valley from Winnipeg.

That was from 1996 to 1998.

When the Seattle Kraken were announced as the NHL's new franchise, the Coyotes' days in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference were numbered. With the Kraken now playing, the Coyotes are back in the Central even if it doesn't seem like the most geographically sensible place to be.

It's Arizona joining Chicago, Minnesota, Dallas, St. Louis, Colorado, Nashville and Winnipeg in the division.
