Coyotes Director of Amateur Scouting Lindsay Hofford estimated his staff watched about 80 percent more games on draft-eligible players than any organization with which he’s been previously.
The meticulous video scouting process is just one of the many dramatic changes made to the Coyotes’ scouting department since Hofford’s hiring last summer. And it all finally came to fruition on Friday and Saturday at the NHL draft in Vancouver.
Along with Coyotes President of Hockey Operations and General Manager John Chayka, Hofford, who is also an assistant GM, spearheaded a uniquely collaborative approach to this year’s draft.
