The Coyotes couldn’t protect a cushy lead in their season debut Thursday, torpedoing a three-goal advantage in an eventual loss to the Ducks.
They went with a different tactic Saturday, trying to bubble-wrap a 1-0 edge for almost the entire game.
And that didn’t work either.
After scoring early, the Coyotes were unable to hold on and their grip slipped en route to a 2-1 overtime loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday in their home opener at Gila River Arena.
Arizona is 0-1-1.
“That’s something we’re going to have to learn, to close games down,” defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson said.
