The Colorado Avalanche broke through for three goals in the third period en route to a Game 1 victory over the Coyotes on Wednesday in Edmonton.
The Avalanche won the game by a 3-0 score after skating to a scoreless game midway through the third period. But the Avalanche went to a power play after Coyotes center Derek Stepan was called for interference with less than 10 minutes to go in regulation.
Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri solved Coyotes goaltender Darcy Kuemper on the man-advantage as a slew of Colorado skaters batted away at a loose puck in the crease.
