The Coyotes select from Frölunda HC of Sweden, Filip Westerlund. He played with the Frölunda and Frölunda HC J20. He has played for Sweden in the U18’s as well. He played 33 games with the Men’s team, just as a steady defenseman and played more than next year’s projected #1 pick Rasmus Dahlin.
Frölunda is one of the top team in the SHL and produces some of the best players that come over to the NHL. Westerlund is quoted of wanting to go somewhere with sunshine, which he will get tons of in Arizona. He is a playmaker who likes the puck.
