Arizona Coyotes re-sign Nick Schmaltz to a seven-year deal

In a bit of a surprise move the Arizona Coyotes have re-signed center Nick Schmaltz to a seven-year deal.

The Coyotes acquired Schmaltz from the Chicago Blackhawks earlier this season in exchange for Dylan Strome and Brendan Perlini who initially drafted him in the first round of the 2014 draft.

Last season with the Blackhawks he had 21 goals and 31 assists. Schmaltz was limited to just seventeen games with the Coyotes where he registered five goals and nine assists. Schmaltz was one of many Coyotes who got bite by the injury bug when hesustained a lower body injury in a game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
