The Coyotes rallied to tie the Vancouver Canucks midway through the third period on Sunday, but two breakdowns late in the game ultimately led to a 3-1 defeat for Arizona at Gila River Arena in the second game of a back-to-back at home.
The Coyotes had a goal waived off in the opening minute of the game and didn’t score again until defenseman Alex Goligoski made it 1-1 at 9:18 of the third period. But Arizona couldn’t sustain the momentum as they suffered their second loss in three games.
“I thought we had a lot of chances,” Coyotes head coach Rick Tocchet said.
