The Coyotes on Sunday acquired defenseman Robbie Russo from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2019, the club announced.
Russo, 25, played 19 games with the Red Wings during the 2016-17 season and did not record a point. He has played parts of three seasons with the Grand Rapid Griffins on the American Hockey League (AHL) and has tallied 103 points in 204 games.
The right-shot defenseman played four seasons at Notre Dame and totaled 94 points in 142 career NCAA contests.
Russo (6-0, 192) is under contract for the 2018-19 season for an expected salary of $250,000 in the AHL.
