Five seconds.
That’s all the time it took for the San Jose Sharks to score the go-ahead goal after Coyotes goaltender Antti Raanta left the game with injury. That’s all the time it took to decide the game.
Those five seconds represented a momentum shift the Coyotes could not overcome, as their three-game win streak came to an end with a 3-1 loss to the Sharks at Gila River Arena on Wednesday.
But the Coyotes lost much more than a win streak. They might have lost their hottest player.
Midway through the first period, Sharks forward Logan Couture skated across Raanta’s crease and collided with the goaltender.
