Ailing Coyotes fall behind early, can't recover vs. Bruins

In a Battle of the Brittle on Saturday night in Glendale, it was the Coyotes’ deficiencies that outweighed those of the visiting Boston Bruins in a 2-1 loss at Gila River Arena.

The Coyotes, missing three of their six regular defensemen as well as their starting goaltender, allowed two goals in the opening 2:45 of the game and never recovered. Although they would ultimately out-shoot the Bruins, 32-22, the Coyotes simply couldn’t recover from their defensive lapses at the outset of the play.

Boston drew first blood when Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson, a former teammate of Coyotes forward Clayton Keller at Boston University, scored his first NHL goal just 1:12 into the game.
