The speaker system at Gila River Arena might as well have been playing “All the Small Things,” by blink-182 because that’s all the Coyotes were working on during Friday’s practice.

After a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the NHL-best Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday, Coyotes head coach Rick Tocchet knew his team didn’t come ready to play. But even worse was that most players came unarmed with the fundamentals and details of their games.

“I think a lot of guys knew they didn’t play well, and that’s a lesson,” Tocchet said after Friday’s practice.
