With just 19 points in 33 games, the Coyotes are bringing up the rear in the NHL after enduring a historic stretch of road games. The unfriendly schedule isn’t the sole reason for the team’s struggles, but it certainly played a big role.
After their 3-1 loss to the Blackhawks on Sunday in Chicago, the Coyotes returned home after breaking an NHL record they hadn’t aimed to eclipse. They became the first team in NHL history to play 21 road games in the first 66 days of a season.
Now, the Coyotes are looking forward to digging in at home and establishing an identity.
