This offseason, Cardinals special teams coordinator Amos Jones did something he doesn’t plan to do for about another 10 years — recruit a long snapper.
If you’re good at it, there's some nice longevity in the NFL to snapping the ball for punts and field goals. In his nine years coaching in the NFL, Jones has had two starting long snappers: Greg Warren in Pittsburgh and Mike Leach in Arizona.
“Them guys that are good, they stay a long time," Jones said.
Leach, a William and Mary grad, retired after last season and left behind a roster hole that hadn't been there since 2009.
