Even if you are an ardent follower of the Cardinals, your reaction when news broke Friday afternoon that Josh Shaw had been suspended for gambling likely was similar to mine:
Who is Josh Shaw?
I looked him up. A journeyman, Shaw was one of many cornerbacks the Cardinals signed in the off-season to address a lack of depth at the position.
Shaw was placed on injured reserve in late August because of a shoulder injury, and according to sources, hasn’t been around the team since then. That’s not unusual for players on injured reserve.
Still, it was startling news because it’s rare these days that a player or other NFL employee is suspended for gambling on games.
