Former Cardinals DL announces retirement

Cory Redding, a defensive lineman who was released by the Arizona Cardinals in April, announced his retirement on Twitter Wednesday morning.

"I'm leaving the game I've played for 23 years," he tweeted. "Thanks to the teams I played for, coaches, teammates, fans and my family 4 their support!"

Redding, 35, signed a two-year deal with the Cardinals in the spring of 2015, receiving a signing bonus of $2 million.

He was due to make $3 million in salary this season before the Cardinals cut him.

Redding considered retiring before signing with the Cardinals.
