The Cardinals had a chance to claim the No.1 seed in the NFC playoffs last weekend, but we know how that turned out, don’t we?
Well, going in as the No. 2 seed has proven to be just as valuable lately.
Since 2000, only four No.1 seeds have won the Super Bowl – and it happened twice in the past two seasons.
In that same span, however, four No. 2 seeds have also won the Super Bowl – the 2001 Patriots, who beat the Rams 20-17 in Super Bowl XXXVI, the 2002 Buccaneers, who beat Oakland 48-21 in Super Bowl XXXVII, the 2004 Patriots, who beat Philadelphia 24-21 in Super Bowl XXXIX, and, of course, the 2008 Steelers, who beat Arizona 27-23 in Super Bowl XLIII.
