Arizona Cardinals sign free-agent cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick pending physical

The Cardinals announced Sunday they have signed free-agent cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick to a one-year deal and in a corresponding move, have released cornerback Duke Thomas.

Kirkpatrick, 30, has started 67 of his 99 regular-season NFL games – all with the Bengals – and has 302 career tackles to go along with 10 interceptions and 65 passes defensed. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Kirkpatrick was a first-round pick (No.17 overall) out of Alabama in 2012.

According to the analytics website ProFootballFocus, Kirkpatrick has allowed the fourth-lowest completion percentage (21.7) on throws targeted 20 yards or more downfield since 2007.

He is the third cornerback signed by the Cardinals in as many days following the additions of free-agents B.
