Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson likely to return against Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Cardinals released Alfred Morris on Friday, an indicator that running back David Johnson will be back for their next game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"We feel like David has made significant progress and has a chance to be up this weekend, and so we went ahead and released Alfred," coach Kliff Kingsbury said Friday.

Chase Edmonds is still working through a hamstring injury. Kingsbury said he is "not likely this week, but he's coming along."

Prior to Morris' release, the Cardinals had five running backs on their roster.

Kenyan Drake made his case to stay with his performance Thursday against the 49ers where he rushed for 110 yards with a touchdown and had 52 yards receiving.
