Arizona Cardinals' Larry Fitzgerald, on the verge of passing Randy Moss, recalls his days as Vikings' ball boy

Larry Fitzgerald can remember almost every catch he’s made, even dating back to high school in Minnesota. Or so he says.

So last Sunday, after catching his 12,000th career pass – a 15-yard touchdown from Blaine Gabbert against the Rams – why did he casually flip the football to the referee and start to jog off the field?

“I was in the moment,” Fitzgerald said Thursday. “I said to myself, ‘I probably should keep that one,’ so I went back and grabbed it.”

This Sunday, Fitzgerald has another milestone on the menu. With 26 receiving yards against the Titans at University of Phoenix Stadium, he will pass his childhood idol, Randy Moss (15,292), for third on the NFL’s all-time receiving yardage list.
