In Steve Keim’s five years as Cardinals general manager, the phrase “Keim Time” gained popularity for a few reasons.
First, sportswriters and broadcasters like simple words that rhyme.
Second, Keim and his scouting staff proved adept at adding key players throughout the summer and fall, which helped the Cardinals win 34 games in the first three seasons of his tenure.
Overall, however, “Keim Time” hasn’t included the three days each spring that the draft has been held.
His track record isn’t awful, and there have been a handful of brilliant moves in his five drafts.
