The Arizona Cardinals’ running back depth chart for 2017 currently consists of one exclamation point, and three question marks. David Johnson – exclamation point – is entrenched as the starter. However, with Andre Ellington, Chris Johnson, and Stepfan Taylor all free agents, the rest of the depth chart is likely to experience a substantial shakeup.
The Cardinals could opt to re-sign one or more of their free agent running backs. It seems likely, however, that General Manager Steve Keim will look to fill at least a few spots on the depth chart with younger, more affordable options, and utilize the cap savings to fortify other positions.
