Arizona Cardinals News: Kurt Warner to be inducted to Ring of Honor

In today's Arizona Cardinals news update, the Cardinals will make former starting quarterback Kurt Warner just the 14th player inducted into the team's Ring of Honor.

When the Arizona Cardinals signed Warner back in 2005, he was seen by many NFL teams as past his prime - with the Cardinals perhaps presenting the only viable option for Warner to start.

“One thing I always said to myself was when a team invested in me, that they get their investment’s worth,” Warner said, via Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com. “Going into the Ring of Honor, hopefully that shows (the Cardinals) were happy with your investment.”

In five seasons with the team, Warner led the Cardinals to a 4-2 postseason record, two NFC West championships, and the franchise's only Super Bowl appearance.

"He made a lot of great contributions, he’s all over the record book, he won back-to-back division titles, he got us to the Super Bowl,” team president Michael Bidwill said. “(But) it’s not only the way he performed on the field and the class he performed on the field but also what he did off the field.”

Warner will be inducted on September 8th before the Cardinals' regular-season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
